Steps:

  1. Excavate the necessary space in width and depth around the opening for the installation of your Solis window well.
    1. Plan to widen your excavation 14" to 18" on each side of the window to ensure enough space to anchor the window well to the concrete wall.
    2. Excavate 8" to 12" below the base of the window.
  2. Place a panel on the wall and trace the holes to mark the location of the holes to be drilled. The window well must be at ground level and have a 4" clearance on each side of the window. Install the panels with the concrete anchors, taking care to install them level. Install one panel at a time.
  3. Cut the wood (recommended 2x8 treated) to the precise length between the 2 sides of the window well already fixed to the wall. Attach the wood pieces to the front using 1 ¾" wood screws.
  4. Fill the window well with crushed stone 19 mm (3/4 in) in order to fill the bottom up to 6 to 8 inches below the bottom of the window as well as the steps of the Solis’ window well. It is recommended to backfill the perimeter of the curb with 19 mm (3/4 in) clean crushed stone. When backfilling, make sure to keep the installation square. To allow the addition of topsoil around the edge of the window well, you can stop the backfill of the stone 8" to 10" below the final level and install a geotextile membrane on the stone for the placement of topsoil.

Note:

It is good practice to install a drain pipe vertical and parallel to the foundation wall up to the top of the existing French drain. The drain pipe should be positioned so that its upper part is in the stone backfill under the window. Fill the vertical pipe with crushed stone.
